Project Shoes for Souls
Lindsay created Shoes for Souls to provide new and gently worn shoes to those experiencing homelessness and to inspire fellow young people to join her in giving back to their communities. Shoes for Souls has partnered with shoe companies, including Foot Locker and Nike, along with other nonprofit organizations, to donate over 52,000 pairs of shoes across Southern California, with a total value of more than $3 million.
As the homeless population has grown, so has the need for Shoes for Souls. Working with a team of 30 volunteers and many partner organizations, Lindsay intends to grow Shoes for Souls and continue providing a necessity that so many take for granted.
After visiting one of the largest homeless encampments in the world in Los Angeles, located not far from her own hometown, Lindsay saw an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people experiencing homelessness by founding Shoes for Souls. What began with cleaning out her closet to provide gently worn shoes to those in need has grown into a movement with more than 52,000 pairs of shoes donated over the past six years.
