Max is the creator of a podcast called The Chai Road that explores powerful stories, professional journeys, and important conversations about faith, identity, and resilience with Jewish leaders of all backgrounds.
Born in Guatemala, Max was adopted at nine months old by a single Jewish mother in the United States. Navigating his own complex identity was challenging as a child. By creating a podcast, Max sought to explore a diversity of experiences, issues, and ideas that exist within the Jewish community.
The episodes welcome a variety of guests, from victims of terror attacks in Israel, to Holocaust survivors, to those making a difference as illustrators, intellectuals, and community leaders.
Max is dedicated to creating space for open dialogue across the ideological spectrum, including viewpoints that differ from his own. Episodes of The Chai Road podcast have garnered up to 25,000 downloads, with audio segments produced by an engaged group of up to seven volunteer production specialists.
