Project Student Environmental Ambassador (SEA) Program
Landon is the founder of the Student Environmental Ambassador (SEA) Program, which empowers students to enact environmental change in their local communities.
When working in a restaurant, Landon noticed that every takeout and delivery order automatically included utensils. It sparked an idea: what if, in an effort to reduce single-use plastic, utensils were only included upon request? He started a campaign called #reducebyrequest, enrolling local restaurants in a pledge to include plastic utensils only when customers ask. Landon became involved in other environmental stewardship efforts as well, including beach clean-ups and ocean conservation advocacy. With each experience, he realized that many students are eager to take environmental action but don’t know where to start.
This realization inspired SEA. Landon formalized his learnings from his environmental involvements into three unique toolkits that give students practical, step-by-step guidance to advocate for or implement environmental change in their own communities.
SEA has enrolled 725+ Student Ambassadors across 29 high schools and 11 universities nationwide. By building coalitions with 17 organizations that promote the program, Landon has increased SEA’s reach to more than 50,000 students globally.
