Project The Jewish Security Alliance
On January 15, 2022, Joshua was having a kiddush luncheon at his Houston synagogue when a fellow congregant announced that hostages had been taken at a synagogue near Dallas, only three hours away.
The Colleyville Synagogue hostage incident resulted in no deaths, due to specialized training the rabbi had received. Joshua recognized that training works in addressing the potentially tragic results of increasing antisemitism. He met with his rabbi, and soon launched the Jewish Security Alliance (JSA) to bring similar training to Jewish teens in his community and beyond.
Through partnerships with Jewish youth organizations like BBYO and Hillel, JSA has trained more than 340 Jewish high school and college students in cities across the country. Joshua presented about the importance of security training to more than 4,000 Jewish teens at conferences in Dallas and Orlando and was invited to provide insight to the Biden Administration on the first-ever National Strategy to Combat Antisemitism.
The Jewish Security Alliance (JSA) is dedicated to providing Jewish teens the skills needed to prevent and respond to the potentially violent effects of antisemitism. In coordination with community partners, JSA facilitates security and antisemitism preparedness trainings for teens across the country.
