Project The Code to Grow Foundation
Jack is the founder of the Code To Grow Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to making coding education more accessible to students from marginalized communities throughout Los Angeles.
Jack became a passionate coder in fourth grade, when he first attended coding camp. Over the years, he noticed a lack of socioeconomic and gender diversity within the coding community. That’s when Jack conceived of the Code to Grow Foundation, with the goal of eliminating financial barriers that limit kids’ access to coding education.
Every summer, Code to Grow offers kids and teens ages 8-14 the opportunity to attend two weeks of coding camp, all expenses paid. It also offers free lunch and transportation as needed. Students can continue learning throughout the school year through Code to Grow’s self-guided coding curriculum and mentorship program, developed by Jack.
Code to Grow has sent more than 40 kids to coding camp, of which 63% are foster youth and 25% are female. Jack has helped raise more than $250,000 to further this initiative and reach more students.
