Ari is the chief operating officer and co-founder of PoweringTomorrow.org, a free after-school program designed to inspire a new generation of climate leaders by bringing hands-on lessons about climate science and renewable energy to elementary and middle schools.
The seeds of his idea were planted in October 2020, when the sky in Ari’s hometown turned orange as wildfires tore through the Bay Area. With evidence of the climate crisis outside his window, Ari was motivated to learn more. He realized how little his schooling had taught him about climate change, and he set out to fill this education gap for the next generation.
Together with his brother, Ari started PoweringTomorrow.org, which prioritizes students in underserved communities that are disproportionately affected by climate change. The after-school curriculum includes lessons about renewable energy and hands-on activities, like creating a miniature green city of the future with wind turbines and solar panels.
PoweringTomorrow.org has expanded to 24 partner schools and organizations, including YMCA, the Richmond Neighborhood Center, and San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD), reaching more than 3,000 students with free after-school programming.
