Alexandria is the co-president of Women in Debate (W.in), a nonprofit dedicated to making debate more accessible and gender-inclusive by breaking down the financial and cultural barriers to access.
Alexandria fell in love with debate in ninth grade. Joining her high school team gave her an important and exciting outlet for her intellect and voice. However, it also gave her a window into the male-dominated debate culture, and the high fees that excluded lower-income students from participating or feeling like they belonged.
Alexandria seized an opportunity to help repair the challenges she saw in the debate community by becoming co-president of Women in Debate (W.in). As its leader, she implemented initiatives like the Entry Fee Fund and Debate Camp Scholarships, which provide financial aid to low-income students interested in competing. She also expanded a mentorship program that offers gender-minority debaters free coaching, resources, and community support to foster confidence and skill development.
Under Alexandria’s leadership, W.in has secured $70,000 in scholarships, expanded its mentorship program by 150 sign-ups, and established partnerships with organizations like GirlUp to amplify its reach.
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering gender minorities in competitive debate, including women, non-binary individuals, and other underrepresented groups.
